ABOUT THE COMPOSER

Morgan Ames began her career at 16, singing and playing in clubs. Two years later, she wrote Far Side of the Hill (see example above) that became a hit. She began collaborating with other writers and musicians like Dave Grusin and Quincy Jones, for whom she worked for three years. She is strongly talented as a producer, singer, and arranger.  She has recorded with entertainers such as Kenny Loggins and Vanessa Williams. She has written vocal arrangements for singers like Dionne Warwick and Bette Midler. She is also well known to Paul McCartney, Chaka Kahn, the Doobie Brothers, and Patti Austin. A career in film music includes singing in Sister Act I and II; Quest for Camelot, Amistad, and League of Their Own. Her songs have been recorded by Roberta Flack, Barbara Mandrell, and Peggy Lee just to mention a few. Some of Ames' song arrangements include: When I'm 64 (Beatles), I'll Never Smile Again (Lowe), I Don't Know Why, and My Funny Valentine (Hart/Rodgers). She currently sings and records with the group Inner Voices.
