My dear "Manager" !

I hope you have received the other correspondence from N.Y. which I mailed you yesterday.
We had a delightful drive with Mr. Presser
1 this a.m. & enjoyed it immensely.
I cannot tell you how deeply I appreciate your great kindness and remembered interest in my work at the present juncture. The only return I can make will be a great pleasure to me--viz: to boost your firm everywhere I go and to offer you the best of my

work which may be of commercial value as well as artistic.
In S.F. [San Francisco] I was  lost to the rest of the world. In Portland [Maine] I feel dead. But, by your Providential interest, I am cheered by the thought that I may yet "come into my own" and be once more priviledged* [sic] to give of my best to those who will understand and appreciate it.

          I am

Your sincere friend,

Edwin H. Lemare

*P.S. My other "eleven sixteenths" 2 says there is no "D" in "privileged" and I was going to re-write this, but she assures me that you are already aware that I am not an authority in spelling!!!!

NOTES:

1) A reference by Lemare to musician and music publisher, Theodore Presser.

2) Presumably a reference to his wife.
