Set
during the persecution of the Huguenots in 17th century France, a young Huguenot
stonemason by the name of Isaac DuBose, Suzanne’s father, the marquis, who is
besieged by King Louis XIV and Romanist zealots, narrowly escapes arrest. With
the DuPont Chateau infiltrated by spies and the family doggedly pursued by the
King’s dreaded dragoons, Isaac and Suzanne hurriedly marry and escape by
ship with her father and other Huguenots to Charleston, South Carolina where new
adventures await them all.
